9. REFERENCE
9.1 Maintenance
The MT-500 VHF transceiver is produced with proven processes and current
solid state technology. With reasonable care, your MT-500 will have a long
useful life.
The following precautions will prevent damage to the transceiver.
•
Never press the PTT button unless an antenna or proper dummy load is
connected to the antenna jack.
•
Do not operate the transceiver if the power source is not within the speci-
fied range of 11 to 16 Vdc.
•
Replace the antenna and/or coaxial cable if damaged in any way or
severely weathered.
•
Avoid continuous direct sunlight on the LCD.
•
Avoid overextending the microphone cable.
•
Do not use solvents or harsh chemicals to clean the microphone, case-
work or LCD display.
9.2 Special Functions
Clear Memory Channels
Clears the channel bank for the Memory Scan function.
•
Press and hold the
MEM
key while turning power On.
New Microphone
Initializes the keypad when a new microphone is installed.
•
Press and hold the
1
key on the microphone while turning power On.
Printer Operation
Initializes the Tx port for 4800 baud PC/printer interface.
•
Press and hold the

key while turning power On.
