Remote Loopback
Process
The following process, illustrated in Figure 1-1, is used to set up the Remote
Loopback test:
1.
The local multiplexer activates the Remote Loopback signal.
2.
The remote multiplexer detects the loopback signal.
3.
The remote multiplexer activates the loopback.
4.
A test signal is sent through the local multiplexer and over the specified
DS1/E1 tributary. This signal will be sent back towards the local multiplexer.
5.
The looped back test signal is received by the local multiplexer and a
comparison is made between the sent and received signals to determine
the condition of each multiplexer and facility between them.
