(3) Replacing Fuel filter cartridge

Main fuel filter
1. Stop engine and allow it to cool, and apply
parking brake.
2. Close the fuel valve and set a container under
the fuel filter.
3. Turn the retaining ring to the left.
4. Carefully remove the cup and pour the fuel into
an approved container and dispose of waste
properly. Hold the bottom of the cup with a shop
towel to prevent the fuel from dripping. Wipe up
any spills immediately.
5. Replace the filter element with a new one.
6. Check the condition of the O-ring and install the
cup to the mounting flange.
7. Tighten the retaining ring and open the fuel valve.
8. Exhaust air in fuel filter.

bleeding from Fuel system” in this manual.
9. Check for fuel leakage.

Do not fill the new filter with fuel. The invisible fine foreign materials enter the
injection pump and it may cause damage to the fuel injection system.

Fuel pre-filter
1. Stop engine and allow it to cool, and apply
parking brake.
2. Set a container under the fuel pre-filter.
3. Loosen the hose clamps and disconnect the fuel
hoses, and plug the fuel hoses.
4. Remove the fuel pre-filter and replace it with a
new one.
5. Assemble the fuel hoses and tighten the hose
clamps.
6. Check for fuel leakage.
