Use of the directional wheel activation lever
1. Use your foot to push down on
the green activation lever to
limit direction.
2. Use your foot to lift up on the
green activation lever to allow
directional movement.
The directional wheel function helps the chair move in a straight line over
longer distances. The front position of the chair allows the chair to be
maneuvered with a minimum risk of injury to the caregiver. Moving an
armchair using the rear wheels to initiate turns requires a little practice
but ensures that the patient’s weight has little impact on the effort to
turn. Keep in mind that you should only initiate a turn when the front
half of the chair has passed the intersection. In addition, always keep at
least 12 inches (30 cm) away from the walls while moving to maintain
the flexibility needed to correct the trajectory.
The directional wheel is located on the right front and equipped with a green
activation lever.
