10.2
Resetting the device
Very infrequently something goes wrong and the
microprocessor in the MAT-1 Data Logger will
crash and need to be reset. For loggers with serial
numbers less than 2006000, the battery must be
disconnected for 60+ seconds and then
reconnected. The red and green LEDs should flash
three times. Loggers with serial numbers of
2006000 and greater contain a reset button. The
button can be pressed with a small object such as
the end of a pen or pencil (avoid metal objects
that could short with the circuity). The reset
button is located to the right of the USB port and is
a small black rectangle. Press briefly and the green
and red LEDs should blink three times. If they do
not, then either the battery is dead or there is
something more seriously wrong with the logger.

Serial Number
Each logger has a date & serial number laser-etched on the side of the case. The serial number includes
a date code in the first four digits with the format YYMM. For example, the code 2008123 is decoded as:

Repair Policy
Products that fail after the warranty period or that are damaged by the customer as specified in the
warranty provisions can be returned to Lowell Instruments. See

Returning Products to Lowell Instruments
Please contact Lowell Instruments before returning your hardware. Ship the product(s) (properly
packaged to protect against damage) to Lowell Instruments (at your expense) with your contact
information, a brief description of the problem and your return shipping address. Lowell Instruments is
not responsible for the loss of the package by any shipping company. Loggers must be clean and free of
any hazardous substances before return.
