After the instrument has accepted the subject breath sample, the instrument will perform another
“Air
Blank”
. The instrument will display the
“Air Blank”
message and turn on the instrument’s internal
purge pump for approximately 20 seconds.

This will purge the instrument’s sample chamber and once again check the operational environment
for possible contaminants. If all the parameters are met, the instrument will proceed to the next step.
If there is a problem, the instrument will abort the test and display a message of
“Purge Fail”
on the
display and print
“*Invalid Test – Purge Fail”
on the Test Report.
Comment Lines
Immediately prior to printing the Test Report, the operator will be given the opportunity to enter
comments into the “Comments” section of the report. This information will then appear on the final
printed version of the Test Report. The instrument will prompt the operator by first displaying a
message of
“Add Comments (Y/N)?”
.
Add Comments (Y/N)?
By selecting “N” on the instrument keyboard, the instrument will proceed directly to printing of the Test
Report. A selection of “Y” on the instrument keyboard will allow the operator to enter additional
information into the Test Report. The instrument will display three (3) comment messages, starting
with
“Comment Line 1”

The comments section has a maximum length of 221 characters divided between the three comment
lines. After reaching the end of
“Comment Line 1”
, the instrument will display
“Comment Line 2”
followed by
“Comment Line 3”
before proceeding to the next step.
