30+ Chemical
Compatibility
The NanoCount 30+ with integrated flow control is designed for
particle detection in deionized water. Contact Lighthouse Technical
Support before attempting to sample other liquids.
Failure to heed this
restriction may result in damage to the instrument’s flow control and
void the warranty.
Warrantied Operation
The NanoCount 25+ and NanoCount 30+ are designed with the highest
levels of sensitivity for detection of ultrafine contamination in
pressurized ultrapure water (UPW) systems. This sensitivity also makes
these sensors extremely vulnerable to background reflection spikes
caused by air gaps in the UPW supply line.
On more than one occasion, air gaps greater than 0.25 inches in length
passing through the NanoCount’s flow cell have triggered very high
background levels from which the units were unable to recover on their
own. These faults required RMA servicing for complete realignments
(minimum 10 business days not including transit time to and from
Lighthouse).
To avoid this fault (and consequential downtime) from occurring with
your NanoCount unit, we require the following parameters of their use:
1. These units must only be used on pressurized ultrapure water
systems, filtered down to 20nm (10nm preferred). Please refer to Figure
2-1 for pressure limitations.
2. Before powering on the unit, an uninterrupted stream of sample liquid
must first be flowing continuously through its sensor. It is strongly
recommended that an overnight flush be done (with the unit’s power off)
at maximum flow each time the unit is first connected to a new supply
line.
3. The unit must be powered off before shutting off its sample flow.
4. Trained personnel must always be present and ready to shut off
power while the NanoCount is operating, just in case the presence of
bubbles is detected.
Without the expressed written consent from Lighthouse Worldwide
Solutions’ Engineering Department and Service Department, operating
your unit outside of these parameters will void its warranty.
For more information on warrantied NanoCount operation, or if you
have specific requests for test applications on your NanoCount unit,
please contact the Engineering Department at 1-510-438-0500.
