Getting Started
Registration
The phone is one of the iPECS phones recognized by the system.
Therefore, your phone must be registered with the iPECS system for
successful call processing.
The registration is accomplished in two phases: access point connec-
tion establishment and iPECS system registration.
If the phone is registered with the iPECS system successfully, the
unregistered indicator icon will automatically disappear from the
screen.
Emergency Code Provisioning and Registration
It is important this phone is correctly provisioned with emergency
codes. (See Appendix B for Emergency Code Provisioning & Registration.)
Wireless LAN Connection
SSID

1 is used as an identifier which means, "you are part of the
802.11b compliant wireless network". The phone should have the
same SSID as the one configured within an access point. To setup an
SSID. (See "Profile Settings" on page 85.)

1 An SSID (Service Set Identifier) is the name of a wireless local area network
(WLAN). A wireless phone on a WLAN must use the same SSID in order to com-
municate with each other.
iPECS Setup
iPECS IP Address
The phone must be programmed with the IP address of the iPECS to
initially request registration.
Network Mask
The phone may be used in Local or Remote mode on iPECS system.
Its Local and Remote settings are configured in the same way as a
wired IP phone. The phone can be a DHCP client or may be statically
configured. (See "SIP Settings" on page 89.)
Restarting the Phone
If something is not working right, restarting or resetting your phone
to solve the problem. To restart your phone, see "Turning Your Phone
On and Off" on page 16.
