Service operation
You can configure the bar code reader by means of a PC or a terminal via the RS
232 interface. Setting the required parameters is carried out easiest in the 'Ser-
vice' operating mode.
In service mode, the bar code reader operates with a default setting of the serial
interface, independent of how the device is configured for process mode:
– 9600 baud, 1 stop bit , 8 data bits, no parity
– Framing protocol with <STX> Data <CR><LF>

To access service operation, read the SERVICE bar code when applying the
supply voltage.
NOTICE
In service operation, the status LED flashes orange.
Maintenance and decommissioning
CAUTION
Ä
Do not open the device yourself under any circumstances! There
is otherwise a risk of uncontrolled emission of laser radiation from
the device.
The housing of the device contains no parts that need to be ad-
justed or maintained by the user.

If faults cannot be rectified, take the device out of operation and
protect it from accidentally being started.
Ä
Package the device for transport and storage in such a way that is
protected against shock and humidity. Optimum protection is
achieved when using the original packaging.

Ensure compliance with the approved environmental conditions
listed in the specifications.
Ä
Do not use aggressive cleaning agents such as thinner or acetone
for cleaning.
