How to check the air gap:

Do not energize the brake.

.
For brake ABR IP65/66: Lever out the sealing plug (5) on the circumference of the brake
and check the air gap s
L
through the bore. After checking, push the sealing plug back in,
taking care not to tilt the plug.

Measure the air gap s
L
between stator (1) and armature plate (2) in the vicinity of the cap
screws (3) using a surface feeler gauge.

Compare the air gap with the value for the maximum permissible air gap s
L,max
.

Set air gap to s
L,N

How to set the air gap on the ABR IP54/55 brake

.
Loosen cheese head screws (3) with an Allen key.

.
Screw the sleeve bolts (4) further into the stator (1) using an open-end wrench.
1/6 revolution reduces the air gap by approx. 0.15 mm.
3
.
Tighten the cheese head screws (10) to the prescribed torque.
