simply add up the power consumption of all locomotives running at the
same time as well as that of all other consumers. Use the following
approximate values for your calculation:
- running locomotives – depending on gauge and attached load, the
power consumption ranges from 200mA to 2000mA. Calculate per
locomotive 500mA for gauge N, 1000mA for gauge H0 and
2000mA for larger gauges. This ensures that you still have some
reserve left.
- standing locomotives – not illuminated 10 mA, illuminated approx.
50mA for each bulb.
- illuminated wagons – each bulb approx. 50mA or 20mA when using
LEDs.
If the calculated sum exceeds the maximum current available from the
Digital plus by Lenz
®
system used, you will need more amplifiers. If
this is the case, divide the layout into several supply areas. Use an
amplifier LV103 for supplying each of these areas.
6 The connections
Fig. 1: The connections of the LV103
6.1 Power supply: terminals U,V
The LV103 is connected to the transformer TR150 via two cables at
the terminals U and V. In factory setting, you have 16 volts and approx.
5A available on the track.
If you connect a transformer with 3 A (50VA), please also set the
current limitation to 3A. See section 8, page 25 for more information.
Alternatively, you can also supply the LV103 via a power supply unit.
This is described in section 6.2, p. 21.
