8. Attach the connector of the speaker assembly.
9. Reinstall the base cover assembly.
10. Turn the computer over. Connect the ac power adapter and all disconnected cables to the computer.
Hard disk drive
Prerequisite
Before you start, read Appendix A “Important safety information” on page 65 and print the following
instructions.
Attention:
The hard disk drive is sensitive. Inappropriate handling might cause damage and permanent loss
of data.
When handling the hard disk drive, observe the following guidelines:
• Replace the hard disk drive only for upgrade or repair. The hard disk drive is not designed for frequent
changes or replacement.
• Before replacing the hard disk drive, make a backup copy of all the data that you want to keep.
• Do not touch the contact edge of the hard disk drive. Otherwise, the hard disk drive might get damaged.
• Do not apply pressure to the hard disk drive.
• Do not make the hard disk drive subject to physical shocks or vibration. Put the hard disk drive on a soft
material, such as cloth, to absorb physical shocks.
Replacement procedure
1. Disable the built-in battery. See “Disable Fast Startup and the built-in battery” on page 36.
2. Turn off the computer and disconnect the computer from ac power and all connected cables.
3. Close the computer display and turn the computer over.
4. Remove the base cover assembly. See “Base cover assembly” on page 36.
