Installing the gearcase
1. Grease the driveshaft splines

and place the shift rod

into neutral gear
(push shift rod down
and up to find middle position).
2. Install the gearcase back onto the midsection, carefully aligning the copper water tube

with the
impeller housing water tube grommet
9
.
3. Align and connect the shift rod linkage, leaving it loose.
4. Ensure driveshaft splines have fully engaged the powerhead coupler and the water tube is in place.
Push the gearcase fully into place and secure with the mounting bolts.
Tighten the shift rod connector bolt.
Replace rubber plug.
5. Test for proper shifting and water pump function in a test tank.
