LEHR LP5.0 HP Rev.A 2014

4. If a tachometer is not available, make your best judgment adjustment

and shift engine into gear.

Engine should not die. If it does, the idle rpm is too low. Increase the

idle rpm until it remains running in gear without dying.

5. If the idle rpm seems too high, slow the engine down with the idle

speed screw. After slowing the idle rpm down, check to make sure it

doesn’t die in gear. Adjust as necessary.

1. Place engine in a suitable water filled test tank. Water level should be

approximately 9 ½” from the top of the transom.

2. Hook up an inductive tachometer

suitable for a single cylinder, four

stroke engine. Start the engine and allow it to warm up to proper oper-

ating temperature, about 3 minutes.

3. Once engine temperature and RPM’s are stable, use a small screw-

driver to adjust the idle speed adjustment screw

to attain:

1950 ± 150 RPM

(in neutral.)

Turning the screw clockwise will speed the engine up and turning

counter-clockwise will slow it down.

Make very small adjustments and allow 30 seconds for the engine to

stabilize before making another adjustment.
