DMX Setup
The E-Flex relay panel (EFRP) can be controlled by the industry standard DMX512-A, ANSI E1.11 - 2008
(R2013) and also supports ANSI E1.20 - 2010, RDM Remote Device Management over USITT DMX512
networks.
DMX512 is an industry standard protocol for digital communications, commonly used to control stage
lighting and color changing LEDs but has found many applications in architectural lighting as well.
DMX 512 signal is a set of 512 separate intensity levels (channels) that are constantly being updated.
One DMX link of 512 channels is defined as a Universe.
Each level has 256 steps divided over a range of 0 to 100 percent.
RDM (remote device management) is a protocol that provides bi-directional communications over a
DMX512 network. It allows discovery of devices on the network and remote setting of DMX starting
addresses as well as status and fault reporting back to a controller. The E-Flex relay panel supports
discovery and remote start address setting.
The E-Flex relay panel can be controlled by any DMX-based system, theatrical or architectural. It is
compatible with Lehigh's own Solitaire and DMX Impress architectural controls.
The user has the option of setting a DMX start address or patching individual zones to a specific DMX
address. If a new start address is entered and stored after patching individual zones, the start address
will override the patch settings. Start address may also be set using RDM.
