Fuses must be fitted upstream to protect circuit-breakers against high short-circuit currents in
high power networks. These protect the circuit-breakers against short-circuit currents of up to 50
kA. If a short-circuit occurs, both protective devices cut out simultaneously, so that the circuit-
breaker is not destroyed and remains fully functional.
