Testing the UDS-1100 Lantronix Device Using Hyper Terminal
1.
Open HyperTerminal. HyperTerminal can be accessed from the
Start button via the following path: Start
Programs
Accessories
Communications
Hyper Terminal.
2.
A Connection Description window will open (Figure 5).
3.
Enter any name and click “OK”.
4.
A Connect To window will open (Figure 6). Connect Using “TCP/IP (Winsock)”.
5.
For the Host Address, type in the IP address of the Lantronix Device (example:
192.168.151.89).
6.
For the Port number, type in “3001”.
7.
Click “OK”.
8.
Make the loopback connections on the RS485 screw terminal connections located on the
UDS1100 Lantronix Device. With two short lengths of wire, connect the terminals TX+ to RX+
and TX- to RX-. See Figure 7.
9.
Type on screen – characters should echo back to screen.
10.
Exit HyperTerminal.
