FPS48 Troubleshooting Chart
Problems
Cause
Solution
Disc Gang squeals or does not
rotate
Bearings are worn out.
Replace all bearings that do not turn
freely.
Disc gang is clogged with dirt and trash
around the bearing hangers.
Clean disc gang of dirt and trash.
Faulty Electrical Wiring
(Electrical components won’t
operate. Also see electrical
component below.)
Electrical fuse is bad.
Replace any bad fuse.
Electrical wiring connections have become
disconnected.
Reconnect all connections.
Electrical connections are dirty or
corroded.
Clean all connections and reconnect.
Replace any connections that is corroded
beyond cleaning.
Insulation is worn allowing bare wire to
make contact with metal.
Cover exposed wiring with electrical tape
or replace wiring.
Electrical wiring is cut or broken inside
insulation.
Splice or replace wiring.
Electrical Actuator won’t
operate.
Electrical wiring is at fault.

Actuator is in need of repair or
replacement.

Spin Spreader gate won’t
open/close.
Electrical wiring is at fault.

Spin Spreader controls are in need of
calibration.
Calibrate Spin Spreader controls.
Gate is stuck.
Clean gate and gate track.
Control unit is faulty.
Replace Wire Harness.
Spin Spreader motor won’t
operate.
Electrical wiring is at fault.

Motor is in need of repair or replacement.

Control unit is faulty.

is more than 48"
Spin deflector is not attached.
Attach spin deflector.
Spin deflector is not adjusted.
Attach spin deflector.
Spin deflector is worn.
Replace spin deflector.
Spin Spreader discharge pattern
is less than it should be.
Spin plate is worn or broken
Replace spin plate.
Spin motor does not operate.

Spin deflector is attached.
Remove Spin deflector.
Spin Spreader is not
discharging enough product.
Material flow setting to too low.
Increase Material Flow setting.
Ground speed is too fast.
Decrease vehicle speed.
Product size is too large.
Remove Restrictor Plate in hopper.
Spin Spreader discharges too
much product.
Material flow setting to too high.
Decrease Material Flow setting.
Ground speed is too slow.
Increase vehicle speed.
Product size is too small.
Install Restrictor Plate in hopper.
