Grasp the gyro and slowly rotate it in the direction of the arrow on its serial
number label. The output data should indicate a positive change.
6.
Slowly rotate the gyro in the opposite direction. The output data should indicate a
negative change.
7.
After the initial 5-second startup, the BIT data word (Data Word 2) should show
ASCII 1 (“data valid”) at all times. If the BIT shows ASCII 0 (“fault”), the gyro
has malfunctioned.
