Getting Started
Before first use
• This product has been packaged to protect it against transportation damage.
Unpack the appliance and keep the original packaging carton and materials
in a safe place. It will help prevent any damage if the product needs to be
transported in the future, and you can use it to store the appliance when it
is not in use. In the event the carton is to be disposed of, please recycle all
packaging materials where possible.
• Plastic wrapping can be a suffocation hazard for babies and young children, so
ensure all packaging materials are out of their reach and disposed of safely.
• Inspect all parts of the appliance for visual damage. Unwind the power cord
to its full length and inspect the cord and plug for damage. Do not use the
appliance if the appliance or its cord have been damaged or are not working
properly.
In case of damage, contact our after sales support centre for
advice on examination, repair or return of the damaged product.
• Make sure you have read and understood all instructions and warnings in this
manual. Refer to the Product Overview, opposite, to familiarise yourself with
the product and the operation buttons on the base. Pay particular attention to
the safety instructions on the previous pages.
• Place the Tea Maker on a stable, secure, dry and level work surface, away from
the edge. Make sure the appliance is disconnected from the power supply.
• Lift the Tea Maker vertically off the power base, open the lid (see page 10) and
fill the glass jug up to the MAX marking with cold water. Do not add tea.
• Connect the appliance to the power supply and set the Strength Control
Dial to setting 3. Let the water heat up to boiling point (see page 10), then
discard the water. This is to ensure dust from transport and oils left from the
manufacturing process are removed. Repeat this procedure once more with
fresh water before using the Tea Maker for boiling water to drink.
• Clean the lid, filter and funnel as described in the "Cleaning and care" section
on page 13. Your new Tea Maker is now ready for use.
TEA TEMPERATURES
• Black tea
is the most robust of teas and the most commonly used. It has
the strongest colour and flavour and should be brewed with boiling water.
• Green tea, White tea
and
Oolong tea
benefit from brewing at a lower
temperature. Use the
85°C
button for brewing these types of tea.
• Herbal infusions
do not contain tea but are usually based on leaves,
flowers, seeds or roots of plants. Use the
100°C
button for brewing herbal
tea and set the strength dial to the maximum setting.
