FAQs and Troubleshooting Guide
The tea maker does not work.
Check and ensure that you have the appliance properly plugged in, power is
switched on at the outlet and the outlet is working properly. Also make sure there
is some water in the glass jug and the jug is properly positioned on the base. If
everything appears normal but the appliance still does not work, contact our after
sales support centre for advice.
Can I add more water than up to the 6 cup mark, considering there is more space
in the tea maker above the mark?
No, never add more water than up to the 6 cup marking. The remaining space is
required for the water to expand when it is boiling, and for proper infusion during
the tea brewing process.
The tea maker is not making tea. The water is heating up but the pump doesn't
work to circulate the water through the filter.
This will happen if the Strength Control Dial is set to below setting 1. Here water
will only be heated to the set temperature, but there will be no brewing. This setting
allows you to use the Tea Maker like a normal water kettle. To ensure proper
brewing, set the dial to between settings 1 and 3.
There are some spots on the base of my tea maker which look like rust.
Rusty looking, or whitish, deposits on the base or along the sides of the glass
jug are not rust but a sign that scaling has taken place. These mineral deposits
(limescale) are left by water and must be removed to ensure proper operation of
the Tea Maker. See page 13 for more on this.
The power base of my tea maker got damaged when I moved house. Where can I
buy a new one?
Our after sales support centre stocks spare parts for the Tea Maker. Contact us
using the details at the bottom of the page and arrange for purchase of a new
base.
Boil-dry protection
The Tea Maker has an automatic shut-off feature that shuts down power to the
unit if it is empty, preventing damage to the element. Once this safety feature
has been activated, switch off and unplug the appliance and let it cool down for
a few minutes before refilling it with cold water.
