Cleaning and care
Glass jug
After each use, empty the glass jug, rinse and wipe the
interior surfaces
with a
soft, damp sponge. The
outside
of the glass jug only requires wiping with a damp
cloth and mild, non-abrasive household detergent, if necessary, then wipe dry with
a soft cloth.
Do not
immerse in water!
Accessories
The accessories (funnel, filter and lid) may be washed in warm, soapy water with a
soft sponge. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
Power base
Wipe the power base with a soft, damp cloth only.
Do not
immerse in water!
Removal of mineral deposits
From time to time, you may need to clean off any mineral deposits (limescale) left
by water inside the glass jug to keep it operating efficiently. How often you have
to do this depends on the water hardness in your area and on how often you use
the Tea Maker. If you live in a hard water area, you may need to descale the Tea
Maker every few months, or if obvious scaling has taken place. In a soft water area
descaling may be required less frequently, or not at all.
If scaling is a problem in your area, it is important that you clean the inside of the
glass jug regularly. Use a commercially available descaling agent for household
products and follow the instructions on the packet.
Removal of tea stains
Tannins contained in tea can leave a brownish tinge on the inside surfaces of the
glass jug. To remove these stains, fill the jug to the MAX marking and add 1/3 cup
of white vinegar. Switch on the appliance, press the
100°C
button and let the water
come to a boil. Switch off and leave to soak overnight, then discard the solution.
Fill the jug with clean water, boil and discard. Repeat if necessary.
WARNING!
• Always disconnect the Tea Maker from the power outlet and allow all parts
to cool completely before disassembling and cleaning.
• Never immerse the glass jug, power base, cord or plug in water or other
liquid for cleaning.
• Never clean the exterior of the glass jug under running water. The
electrical connections underneath the jug must always remain dry.
• To prevent damage to the Tea Maker, do not use scouring pads, steel wool,
solvents or harsh chemical or alkaline cleaning agents.
