Trench - 97
Set Up
1. If using optional trench cleaner, remove bolt
installed for transport (shown).
2. Fasten and adjust seat belt.
3. Start tractor. See page 74 for start-up
procedures.
4. Drive to starting point. Move in line with
planned trench. See page 75 for driving
procedures.
5. Set parking brake and verify parking brake indicator is on.
6. Ensure gearbox shift control is in low to dig. See “Gearbox shift control” on page 43.
7. Tilt steering wheel column up.
8. Turn seat to desired position.
9. Lower boom to just above ground.
10. Check that attachment direction/speed control is in neutral.
11. Check that boom is in line with planned trench.
12. Lower backfill blade to reduce shock when trenching begins.
IMPORTANT:
• When cutting asphalt, start trench in
soil at edge of road and use
shortest possible boom at full
depth.
• Sight along center of hood to a
stake driven beyond end of trench
line for straight trench.
• For optimal spoils delivery, adjust
the auger positions forward or
backward to accommodate terrain
and digging depth.
