Auto-negotiation function enables the associated port to negotiate a
common operation mode (speed and duplex type) with the device con-
nected at the remote end of the link cable. The common operation mode
is negotiated in the sequence as follows:
When an operation mode is accepted by the remote device, the mode is
used for the data transfer between the port and the connected device.
Full-duplex operation enables two devices to transfer data bi-directionally
at the same time.
DIP Switches Port Setting to Support Auto-negotiation:
SWx-3, -6 Off
Enable auto-negotiation
SWx-1, -4 Off
Full-duplex operation
SWx-2, -5 Off
100Mbps operation

Factory Default Settings
All ports are enabled to support auto-negotiation function when the
switch unit is shipped out from factory. That is all DIP switches are set to
OFF position.
Important Note:
As long as any change on the settings of the DIP switch is made, you
must turn the power to the switch unit off and turn it on again to make the
change take effect.
