Keep the examine eye’s eyelashes from
optically interfering with its pupil.
Shadow around peripheral

Camera too far from the examined eye.
Properly adjust the fundus camera’s
alignment.

Camera too close to the examined eye.
Properly adjust the fundus camera’s
alignment.
Locally darkening on
picture
Examined eye insufficiently dilated.
In case of mydriatic mode, set to small
pupil mode.
In case of non-mydriatic mode, check
the pupil for its diameter. If it should be
less than a specified value, shadow will
appear in the center of picture.

Inside of camera fouled with dust.
