SOFTWARE
UPGRADE PROCEDURE
4.4.1 Single System Software Update
Primarily, for single system update, it is recommended to temporary add an additional hard
drive in the unit that will contain the software to update, first:
1. Power off the system and disconnect the power cable.
2. Remove the cover of the system by unscrewing the two captive-panel fasteners located
at the back of the system. Lift the back of the cover and pull it out.
3. Connect the source hard rive to the IDE and POWER connectors.
4. Set the hard drive source as Primary Master. If you are using a bootable CD-ROM,
then ensure that CMOS settings reflect this option under "BIOS Settings / Boot
Sequence", where the boot sequence may be set as "CDROM,A,C".
5. You can boot from the source device (HD or CD-ROM) and then proceed with a new
installation on the destination drive, either on the local CompactFlash or on the local
hard drive.
6. If you have a binary image of the installation, you can also upgrade the local drive
using Ghost (DOS based application) or DD (Unix based application).
4.4.1.1. Boot from LAN Support Using Linux TFTP Server for Remote Image
Update
Consult the “Linux Remote-Boot mini HOW TO” located on your installation CD-ROM or
from your local drive.
