On-board Hardware Installation
Question
Answer
How do I connect my keyboard and
mouse?
Users may install a PS/2 keyboard and mouse with a PS/2
interface (using a Y-cable), J18, on the I/O board bracket of
the PCI-953. By default, a PS/2 keyboard will work if no Y-cable
is used.
However, it is also fine to install a standard keyboard using the
PS/2 alternate header (J17) or via the standard keyboard
connector on the backplane, if available.
OK. I have finished up hardware
installation, but I get nothing when I
power on the system. Why?
Verify that all cables are connected and that pin 1 orientation
is correct for each cable.
Ensure that your power supply is connected to the 20-pin
connector and 4-pin ATX12V connector on the SBC. Also, check
that an additional 20-pin cable is connected from the power
supply to the backplane.
If I connect two IDE devices over one
IDE flat cable, the system either does
not start or hangs from time to time.
Why?
ABCsure that you have configured the two IDE devices as
master and slave, respectively.
