Using the optical zoom
The lens moves during zoom photography. Zoom photography allows you to take
telephoto and wide-angle shots. The subject appears closer by pressing the TELE
button and appears further away by pressing the WIDE button.
1. Turn the camera on.
2. Turn the mode dial to the
mode or the
mode.
3. If required, turn the LCD monitor on by press-
ing the DISPLAY button.
4.Press the TELE button to enlarge the subject
or the WIDE button to reduce it.
5. Press the shutter button down halfway, then
press it the rest of the way down.
Using the digital zoom
By using the digital zoom, images can be enlarged in the center of the screen so
that the subject appears closer. However, the more the image is enlarged, the
grainier the image will become. The digital zoom function is only available when
you use the LCD monitor and turn the digital zoom ON. For details of how to enable
the digital zoom, refer to DIGITAL ZOOM in the Record/Manual record menu.
1. Turn the camera on.
2. Turn the mode dial to the
mode or the
mode.
3. Turn the LCD monitor on by pressing the DIS-
PLAY button.
4. Press the TELE button as far as it can go.
5. Press the TELE button again to activate the
2X digital zoom function.
The 2X icon appears on the LCD monitor.
To cancel the digital zoom function, press
the WIDE button.
6. To capture an image, press the shutter button
down halfway, then press it the rest of the way
down.
NOTE
• You can only use the digital zoom at resolution 1600x1200 pixels resolution; digital zoom is not
available at resolution 800x600 pixels resolution. When you play back the image recorded with
digital zoom, the image size is 800x600 pixels.
• The maximum zoom magnification is 2X for recording and 4X for viewing an image.
• Digital zoom cannot be used in the movie mode.
