The performance of the EM 3002 will usually not be affected by
suspended particles in the water column (turbidness), which
would have been the case if its sonar frequency had been much
higher. Only heavy concentrations of large particles such as sand
(>50 mg/l for particle diameters of about 100
µ
m) or of very
fine particles (>100 mg/l for particle diameters of about 3
µ
m)
will lead to less achievable range in the outer beams than
predicted by the enclosed coverage diagrams.
