Section 6 Controller Troubleshooting
Is there AC output
when the start button
is HELD and the unit
is running?
Is AC output at the
correct voltage
(e.g. 120 volts AC)?
Yes
Test the
voltage
regulator.
No
Replace the
controller circuit
board.
Yes
Is there 12VAC output at the
B1/B2 stator winding?
No
Test the stator,
main field (rotor) and
exciter/armature.
Yes
Is there 12VDC at
the exciter field?
Yes
Test the stator,
and the main
field.
No
No
Separately excite the
generator set to
determine if other
components are
inoperative.
Replace the
controller
circuit
board.
Yes
No
Test the
voltage
regulator.
Is AC output voltage at
spec.? (See Section 7.3,
Separate Excitation).
Test the stator, main
field (rotor), and
exciter/armature.
Is the voltage
regulator
fuse okay?
Yes
Replace the
fuse.
No
