3. PRE-OPERATION CHECKS
Be sure to perform the following checks before starting the generating set.
3.1 Insure the generator is on a level surface.
Check for gasoline and oil leaks and correct any problems before proceeding.
3.2 Check engine oil

Take out the oil filler cap and clean the indicator stick with a clean lint free rag. Reinsert the oil filler cap
without rotating it. Remove the oil filler cap and examine the oil level. If the oil level is at or below the
lower level, refill the oil to the upper limit mark. Reinsert the oil filler cap and tighten securely.
Use a quality high detergent 4 cycle motor oil that meets or exceeds API service classification SF or SG.
Select the proper viscosity from the chart below by determining the average temperature in your area.
