Keysight E8718A Radar Target Simulator User Guide
System Intended Use
The Keysight E8718A Radar Target Simulator (RTS) provides a realistic simulation
of objects or targets used in both design verification and manufacturing of
automotive radar sensors. The RTS provides a simulation of distance, object size,
and speed, accurately and dynamically. In the design verification environment, the
E8718A SFP utilizes a simple interface, whereby you may set the required
simulation value. Once the setting is complete, all you need to do is trigger the
test and provide a frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) signal from
the automotive radar sensor. The RTS provides the return signal to the automotive
radar sensor.
In manufacturing environments, provided is an Application Program Interface
(API) layer where the values can be set automatically as per your required test
case. In this current design, the RTS works for automotive radar sensors in the
range of 76 GHz to 81 GHz with a maximum of instantaneous 4 GHz bandwidth.
You can customize the antenna type as per your requirements. You can use both
dual and single horn antenna with the RTS.
