19.
From the Reverse Network Settings ‘This CA8WL-AL Rev. B will be programmed as Reverse Network
Settings. Do you wish to continue?’ warning box, click on the Yes button.
20.

Momentarily place a jumper on J6 to reset the board, or re-cycle the power. Wait while the Ethernet
module is programmed.
22.
When prompted by the NETCOM utility, disconnect the data serial cable from the RS-232 terminal on the
CA8WL-AL.
23.
Set the DIP switch S1.11 to the off position.
Ensure the DIP switch S1.10 remains in the on position so the control board is set for network
communication.
24.
Reset the CA8WL-AL control board by momentarily shorting system reset jumper J6.
25.
Close the NETCOM Program Utility by clicking on the red x in the upper right corner.
26.
When the CA8WL-AL has been mounted, wired and configured for operation with a network connection,
confer with the host location to confirm they have completed their procedures and have programmed the
required Keyscan communication application and the Client software for reverse network communication.
If this is a new installation or you have cleared memory by shorting J1 to configure the board for
reverse network, the host location must perform a full panel upload from a Client software module.
27.
The following LED states will indicate a network connection with data send/receive transmissions to the
host location:
System status LED – solid green
TD2 LED – flashing green
RD2 LED – flashing red
If you do not establish communication, verify all the settings are correct and verify the host location has a
valid path from the Server/workstation with the reverse network communication manager and the correct port
settings have been specified.
Reverse Network ACU Connection Summary
The ACU will attempt to connect to the Server/workstation with the Keyscan reverse network communication
manager under the following circumstances:
If carrier detect is passive, the ACU will attempt to connect every 60 seconds.
If Carrier Detect is asserted, but the communication data is corrupt or no data has been detected in 15
minutes, the ACU will disconnect, reset the NETCOM6, and attempt to re-connect. If Carrier Detect
remains asserted, disconnect, reset, and re-connect attempts will occur every 2 minutes.
