5 Scan Information
5.1 Overview
Scan allows you to check for the presence of Signals
on each Channel. The transceiver pauses Scan on a
Channel when a signal is present. There are two
types of Group Scan: Single Scan, and Multi Scan.
Press the [Scan] key to activate Scan. The SCN icon
flashes.
Following are the conditions for operating Scan. The
information in (brackets) is applied to “Multi Scan”
only.
5.1.1 Scan
Activation
Requirements
Press the [Scan] key to activate Scan. An Error Tone
sounds when the transceiver does not meet the
requirements for starting Scan:
• Two or more Channels are added to the Scan
Start Group:
• When there is an Add Channel and a Priority
Channel in the Scan List
5.1.2 Scan Resume Requirements
This section explains the conditions for resuming
Scan. The SCN icon flashes when the transceiver
does not meet the requirements for resuming Scan:
• Two or more Channels are added to the Scan List.
• At least one Channel and a Priority Channel are
added to the Scan List.
Press the [Scan Del/Add] key during Scan to execute
the Temporary Delete/ Add function. The status
remains until the [Scan] key is pressed again. Press
the [Scan] key to start and stop Scan.
The Priority Channel is always used as an Add
Channel.
5.1.2.1 Operation - Scan does not resume
During Scan, the selected Channel and the SCN icon
appear when moving to a group that does not meet the
requirements for resuming Scan. In this case, Scan
does not resume.
The transceiver transmits using the Revert Channel
when pressing the PTT switch when Scan has not
resumed. The transceiver returns to the previous
Channel after the Dwell Time expires. Scan does not
resume.
5.1.3 Operation - Manual Change of
Group/Channel During Scan
The following operations occur when changing the
Group/Channel during Scan:
• Scan pauses at the programmed Channel.
• Scan resumes after the Dwell time (one second)
expires.
5.1.4 Operation - Group/Channel
Change when Scan pauses to
Receive a Call

Scan pauses on the last channel of the next Group
when changing the Group number.
•
Scan pauses on the next Channel when changing
the Channel number.
5.1.5 Operation - Receiving a Call
During Scan
QT/DQT operation
Scan pauses when the received QT/DQT code
matches the QT/DQT code programmed for the
Channel. The Dropout Delay Time activates when
the received QT/DQT does not match the
programmed QT/DQT. The transceiver resumes
Scan after the Dropout Delay Time expires.
The transceiver transmits using the Revert
Channel when pressing the PTT switch. The
transceiver activates the Dwell Time and does not
resume Scan.
QT/DQT – DTMF operation
The transceiver does not pause Scan for DTMF.
Scan pauses when the received QT/DQT matches
the programmed QT/DQT.
The transceiver unmutes when the SP Unmute
configuration is QT/DQT.
The transceiver mutes when the SP Unmute
configuration is QT/DQT + DTMF. Scan does not
resume while the DTMF matches.
