5. O P E R A T I N G PROCEDURES
E v e r y time when you s t a r t using the F C - 7 5 8 M u l t i -
Functional Counter, look a t the rear panel and v e r i f y
t h a t the power supply voltage selector setting
indicates the level of the supply voltage to be a c t u a l l y
applied.
1) Connect the accessory power cord w i t h the power
input connector (inlet) of the rear panel and
insert the A C plug into the nearby outlet.
2) Press the P O W E R s w i t c h (
J H L
) . The counter w i l l be
turned on.
3) Read c a r e f u l l y Chapter 3 ' Notes on use' (on page 7 )
to handle t h i s instrument correctly.
5 - 1 Frequency Measurement
5 - 1 - 1 . Frequency Measurement w i t h Channel A
( 5 H z to 1 0 0 M H z )
(1) Input a target signal ( t o be measured) to C H A N N E L
A input juck ® .
(2) Select either the k H z / 1 0 M H z mode or M H z / 1 0 0 M H z
mode by using F U N C s w i t c h @) . k H z / ^ s L E D (3)
or M H z L E D ® w i l l be turned on.
Note : The m a x i m u m allowable measurement
frequency v a r i e s depending on the measurement
modes. In the kHz measurement mode, up to
1 0 M H z - f r e q u e n c y can be processed while the
m a x i m u m frequency t h a t can be handled in the
M H z mode is 1.3GHz.
(3) Select a desired display resolution value w i t h
G A T E s w i t c h © .
(4) The frequency of the input signal currently being
measured w i l l be output to D i s p l a y © .
G A T E L E D © blinks during the measurement.
The measurement value on the display w i l l be
updated a t the moment when one measurement
interval is over (when the G A T E L E D becomes
i n a c t i v e ) .
(5) Press A T T x 10 s w i t c h (
J B L
. ) according to input
signal levels. If the internal a t t e n u a t o r c i r c u i t is
enabled, input signal to the C H A N N E L A pin is
attenuated into 1/10 before reaching the counter.
T h i s attenuates n o i s e - s u p e r i m p o s e d input s i g n a l s .
In addition, the attenuation c i r c u i t preprocesses a
signal w i t h rather a high amplitude into a
reasonable level. A s a result, accurate counting
is assured.
