12 Information about electromagnetic compatibility | 12.4 Recommended safe distances between portable and mobile HF
telecommunications equipment and the MASTERsurg LUX Wireless
imum safe distance between portable and mobile HF-telecommunication devices
(transmitters) and the MASTERsurg LUX Wireless - dependent on the output power of
the communication device - as given below.

mitter in W

For transmitters whose maximum rated power is not included in the above table, the
recommended safe distance d in metres (m) can be calculated using the equation for
the respective column, where P is the maximum rated power of the transmitter in
Watts (W) as specified by the manufacturer.
Note 2: These guidelines may not be applicable in every case. The spread of electro-
magnetic waves is absorbed and reflected by buildings, objects and people.
Comment 1: To calculate the recommended safe distance from transmitters with a fre-
quency range of 80 MHz to 2.5 GHz, an additional factor of 10/3 was used to reduce
the probability that a mobile/portable communication unit that is inadvertently brought
into the patient area would cause malfunction.
