  Turn key by 180°

!

  Open unit cover

!

  Safeguard the unit cover from

shutting with the cover support
during work on the unit

When finished:

!

  Lock the unit‘s cover with the

master switch key

Safety notes

 Danger!

The engine takes approx. 3...4 s to
run down after being shut off.
It is imperative to keep away from
the area of the drive unit during this
period!

Note:

 Comply with the operating

instructions of the battery
charger’s manufacturer

 Work on batteries is permitted

only after instruction by trained
personnel

 Observe the safety instructions of

the battery manufacturer.

 Warranty is valid only when using

the batteries and charging units
stipulated by Kärcher.

  Allow the machine to adequately

cool down prior to all
maintenance and repair work

!

  Do not touch hot parts such as

the driving engine.

  Wear safety goggles and

protective clothing

!

  Observe regulations for the

prevention of accidents as well
as DIN VDE 0510, VDE 0105 T.1

Risk of fire and explosion!

 Smoking prohibited

 No naked flames, glowing

embers or sparks in the vicinity of
batteries

 Do not place any objects or tools

on the battery because voltage is
always present between the
battery poles

 Areas in which batteries are

charged must be well ventilated,
as highly explosive gas forms
during charging

Corrosive burn hazard with wet
batteries!

  Rinse splashes of acid from eyes

or off the skin generously with
clean water

!

  Then consult a doctor

immediately

!

  Wash contaminated clothing with

water

 Old batteries with this symbol are

reusable commodities and must
therefore be returned for
recycling

!

  Used batteries not appropriately

recycled must be disposed of as
hazardous waste in compliance
with all regulations

Install battery

KM 85/50 W Comfort and
KM 85/50 W Classic

Note:

See accessories for recommended
battery and battery charger.

 Warning!

To prevent damage to the bowden
cable, release it from the retaining
plate.

!

  Pull the pin out of fork head (7)

and lever (8)

!

  Take out pin from fork head (7)

!

  Unscrew locking nut (6)

!

  Demount adjusting nut (1) from

retaining plate (4)

!

  Place the battery (1) on the

engine cradle

!

  Secure the battery (1) with a

battery clamping band

Reconnect bowden cable to
retaining plate and adjust it, if
necessary

!

  Hinge adjusting nut (1) in

retaining plate (4)

!

  Tighten locking nut (6) using flat

washers (3 and 5) to locking
nut (2)

!

  Position fork head (7) to lever (8)

!

  Push pin through fork head (7)

and lever (8) and secure it
