9 Troubleshooting

CAUSE
SOLUTION
Battery heats up to more than
45°C during charging.
High ambient temperatures
Suspend the charging process and allow the bat-
tery to cool down. Then charge the battery in a
cooler environment. If the problem still occurs,
contact your specialist cycle shop; the battery
may need to be replaced.
Damaged battery
Damaged batteries must neither be charged nor
used for another application. Contact your spe-
cialist cycle shop; the battery may need to be
replaced.
Battery is not charging.
Ambient temperature is too
high or too low
You can charge the battery at temperatures be-
tween 0°C and 45°C.
Battery is damaged.
Accident or fall involving the
Pedelec or the battery has
fallen out.
A damaged battery must neither be charged nor
used for another application. Contact your spe-
cialist cycle shop; the battery may need to be
replaced.
Range of the battery seems low.
Capacity of the battery cells
depends on the temperature.
Protect the battery from heat by standing your
Pedelec in the shade, for example.
“Speed sensor signal missing” /
“SPEED”
Spoke magnet has slipped
out of position
Make sure the spoke magnet has not slipped. It
should be as close as possible to the sensor on the
chain stay (max. 5 mm clearance).

“Battery communication error”
No connection between mo-
tor and battery
Connect the battery to the charger.
Use a different battery.
Consult your specialist cycle shop.
Charging process of your 17 Ah
battery ends before completion.
You have run the battery
down to empty
Pull the mains plug out of the charger and then
plug it in again. Now the battery should charge
fully. If the problem persists, please contact your
specialist cycle shop.
The LED in the charger (where
present) is flashing red.
In this case, the charging cur-
rent is too high
Disconnect the battery from the charger and then
connect it again. If the error message still ap-
pears, contact your specialist cycle shop and have
the staff there check the battery and charger.
