• It is important to only use the collar (at first) when you are at home and can observe your dog's
behavior. Most dogs immediately recognize the connection between barking and sound/shock
correction but others may take time. You want to see how your dog reacts (especially to the shock
stimulus) before you leave the dog alone with the collar on
• If your dog only barks when you are away, place the collar on the dog and then leave the house but
remain close by. This will allow the dog to receive the correction, once it begins barking, but still allow
you to be close enough to observe its reaction
• In rare occurrences, a dog may react to the collar by barking more and receive more correction. If this
occurs, remove the bark collar until your dog has calmed down and repeat the process. The initial two
warning beeps are usually enough to remind the dog of its need to quit barking
• You can test the collar by blowing on the electrodes. This will first activate the level 1 sound
correction. Continuing to blow on the electrodes will activate levels 2-7
The Don'ts
It would be nice if all dogs reacted immediately to the stimulus of a bark control collar but (as dog
owner's we already know this) some of our dogs are more stubborn than others. This requires a little
more effort and diligence than just putting the collar on and waiting for it to work its magic. This is a
simple and effective list of the activities you want to avoid when training your dog not to bark:
• While most dogs respond immediately to the collar, do not assume that your dog will immediately
react with the desired result. Some dogs take time to associate the sound/shock with their act of
barking. This may feel a little uncomfortable to see your dog react this way but not all dog's
immediately behave correctly. Bad habits may take time to break
• If your dog barks excessively and receives all seven levels of correction, do not leave the collar on but
remove immediately. This will reinforce to the dog that the sound/shock was in response to their
barking and will recognize quickly that they must stop barking when the collar is on. Allow time for
your dog to calm down and then place the collar back on
• Do not allow your dog to chew on or scratch at the collar. This may cause it to malfunction
• This device is made up of plastic and electronic components that are not digestible. Consult your local
vet if your dog swallows any part of this product
• Do not allow your dog to go swimming or outside in heavy rains while wearing the collar. Incidental
splashes of water will not affect the unit (ex: your dog splashes it while drinking from its water bowl)
but it is not waterproof and will malfunction if submerged or soaked
• This collar is not intended for use as a restraining collar. Use a leash with a separate restraining collar
if needed • It is not recommended that your dog wear the collar for more than 12 hours a day as
excessive wear can lead to irritation of the skin
Extra Notes
We want to make sure that you are 100% comfortable with your purchase of the K9konnection No Bark
Collar. We have included a few extra side notes to help with the training process:
• Although the K9konnection bark collar is designed to differentiate from your dog's voice compared to
other environmental noises, the unit may on a rare occasion be activated by other vibrations or sounds.
In most cases, only the sound warning is issued. This is part of our safety design so your dog never
receives unnecessary shock correction.
• It is recommended to put the collar on for the first time at a time that your dog normally barks (inside,
outside, in response to the doorbell, etc) This way you can observe or induce their bark in a controlled
