4.2.1 Common Ground (Sinking Current)
To connect these signals, connect an external +5 V to +30 V
DC
power supply to <VDDm>, connect <IGND> to ground, and cross
the load between <I_DOn> and <VDDm>. Please note that when
the load is of an “inductance nature” such as a relay, coil or motor,
the <VDDm> pin must be connected to external power supply. The
extra connection is utilized for the “fly-wheel diode” to form a cur
-
rent-release closed loop, so that the transistors are protected from
any high reverse voltage which can be generated by the induc
-
tance load when the output is switched from “ON” to “OFF”.
