7 Operation
7.1 General conditions during operation
Consider the following precautions for a safe use of the centrifuge.
7.1.1 General information
• Do not use the machine to centrifuge liquids capable of forming ex
-
plosive, flammable mixtures, with hazardous products or materials that
chemically react with virulence.
• Do not move the centrifuge in operation.
• Never open manually the lid while the centrifuge is running.
7.1.2 Maximum density of liquids to be centrifuged
The maximum speed recorded on the rotor is calculated to centrifuge
fluids at a maximum density of 1.2gr/cm
3
.
To centrifuge liquids with a higher density than 1.2gr/cm
3
, the rotor’s
maximum speed must be reduced according to the following formula:
Rpm = Max. Rpm x 1/density
where:
Rpm =
Max speed of fluids higher than 1.2gr/cm
3
Max Rpm =
Maximum speed indicated on the rotor
Density =
gr/cm
3
.
7.1.3 Filling and location of the buckets
Once the buckets are filled, and before placing them in the rotor, please
check that their weight do not differ in more than 15 grams.
Do not start the centrifuge if the buckets are not placed.
And under no circumstances start the centrifuge with the rotor
loaded in an unbalanced way.
7.1.4 Emergency stop
If you have to stop the machine, quickly activate the front panel button
(18).
Note: Do not use this button as a usual form of stoppage. Please
only activate it in case of emergency.
7.1.5 Safety measures for the staff
Do not lean on the centrifuge.
Do not stay in the safety free space more than the strictly necessary.
Do not leave potentially hazardous materials inside the security free
space.
