Warning! Weight from the fireplace must not be transferred to the
chimney. The fireplace must not interfere with the ability of the
chimney to move and it must not be fastened to the chimney.
Recommended chimney draught, see «2.0 Technical data». If the
draught is too strong you can install and operate a flue damper
to control the draught.
3.4 Preparation/installation
Make sure that the fireplace insert is free of damage before
commencing with the installation.
The product is heavy! Make sure you have assistance when
erecting and installing the fireplace.
Preparation (fig. 1)
The seal of the chimney and sweeping hatch should be
checked as any leakages lead to a poor draught. The chimney
sweeping service can check the chimney.
Check that the Jøtul C
150
FL is suitable for the hearth.
Figure 1
shows the hearth’s minimum dimensions.
If there
is a minimum height for the hearth you must ensure that the
convection air is ventilated through e.g. the hood.
Make sure
to leave a clearance of 2-3 mm to the framing to compensate
for possible heat expansion.
Prior to beginning the installation, the hearth must be
thoroughly cleaned. If there is old, scorched soot and pitch
present there may be an unpleasant smell given off during
use. Use a suitable cleaning product.
Make sure the bottom of the fireplace is even.
Installation (fig. 2)
After the product has been unpacked, take the handle close
to the back edge of the cassette‘s burn chamber out through
the flue. Remove the wired mat, ash strip, baffle plates and
the bag, with its contents. Remove the base plates and burn
plates and close the door.
Place the product carefully on its back (use the cardboard
packaging to protect it from scratches, etc.)
The three adjusting screws, M8x70 are screwed into the base
from inside the product
(fig. 2A)
. If the cassette needs to be
raised higher you will either need longer screws or you must
place the product on bricks or similar.
Attach the plate with the approval label with the screw under
the product
(fig. 2B-B)
.
Remove the three M8 nuts from the plastic bag, and screw
them loosely on the adjusting screws
(fig. 2A)
.
Raise the product and place it in the hearth.
Always place the seating washers
(fig. 2B-A)
under the
adjusting screws in order to protect the underlay and to
prevent the cassette from moving.
Tighten the nuts on the adjusting screws
(fig. 2B-C)
.
(If it is
difficult to reach the nut in the back, let it be.)
Filling the openings between the hearth and
the cassette
If the openings between the hearth and the cassette are to be
filled with grids we recommend you read the information given
in the «
5.0 Optional equipment
» section. In order to see exactly
where the cassette is to be placed in the hearth. Any grid should
be test-mounted prior to permanently sealing the flue pipe.

3.5 Assembly/installation
Connection to chimney (fig. 6 and 17)
By using the Ø150 mm flue pipe internally in the smoke outlet
and the necessary flue pipe bends the product can be adapted
to different hearths. Adjust the flue pipe’s (flue pipe bend’s)
length so that there is a 40mm overlap in the cassette’s smoke
outlet pipe.
Any connection to the chimney is to be made
according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Then decide how to install the pipe bend and flue pipe. It
may be necessary to support the flue pipe as shown in
figure
6
to be able to ease the installation and/or ensure a stable
and safe flue pipe connection between the cassette and the
chimney.
If necessary a hole may be made in the hood for installing
the flue pipe as shown in
figure 17B
. Instead of sealing such a
hole we strongly recommend placing mesh/vents in the hood
so that the heat from the cassette can more easily enter the
room
(fig. 17C)
. The warm air from the cassette must always
be allowed to escape from the hearth. Air must be allowed to
enter the cassette at the bottom and escape from the top.
Depending on the hearth’s shape it may be necessary to
use an extra pipe bend and flue pipe to that shown in
figure 17
.
Normally the pipe connector from the cassette into the
chimney is swept from the cassette. If a pipe bend is fitted
(making this difficult) a sweeping hatch or a hatch in the
hood must be installed.
Where a wired mat is used between the flue pipe and the
chimney this should be adapted/cut and packed securely to
ensure a good seal.
N.B. A correct and sealed connection is very important for the
proper functioning of the product. Air leakage etc. may lead to
malfunction.
Installing the smoke outlet (fig. 3, 4, 5 and 7)
When the product is finally in place and the flue pipe/
chimney connector has been located the smoke outlet can
be permanently attached.
Apply smoke outlet sealant along the grooves indicated in
figure 3A, B and C
and then install it. Push the smoke outlet
through the flue and hook the grooves in the pipe on the
screws on each side of the flue

First attach the upper two nuts

so that the outlet
pipe does not tip and then attach the lower two bolts
(fig.
5B)
using the enclosed nuts. Seal the smoke outlet and the
flue pipe with sealant. It is important that the connections
are completely sealed.
Then place the base plate and burn plates in position. Place
the baffle
(fig. 7A)
in the grooves on top of the burn plates
(fig. 7B)
.
3.6 Control of functions (fig. 8)
Once the cassette is in place, it is essential to check all control
equipment. Moving or movable items should function
smoothly.
