Wheels & Castors
Wheels and castors must be in good conditions at all times because
they stabilize the machine. Any failure could result in a serious acci
-
dent. Additionally, bearings that are too tight may make the
machine difficult to maneuver. Regular inspection is required to
ensure these remain in good working order, especially in harsh con
-
ditions.
A simple measure of horizontal push force can determine the condi
-
tions of the wheel bearings. On a flat, smooth surface, the machine
should move with a force of 9 - 10 kg when pushed from midrail.
An important element of castor maintenance is the condition of cas
-
tor fixing bolt, which usually can be determined from the condition
of the castor bracket. If any distortion is visible, the castor and fixing
bolt must be replaced.
