External LED's are used for Link and Line status indication:

The HPT401BT data and power port is placed on the front of the unit (Figure 2).

Through the DB15 port the HPT401BT can be connected to PC with Accessory Data-Ser-Pwr Cable,
DB9/DB15/SAE (6ft/1.8m) p/n 14-578108-02 and can be powered.
