8.1.10 Proceed to step 8.2.11.
8.2 Models SEC 230--2 and SEC 280--2.
8.2.1 Remove blade as described in section 2.3 or
2.4.
8.2.2 Remove gear housing as described in sec-
tion 4.2.
8.2.3 Remove rear handle assembly as described
in section 6.
8.2.4 Remove (2) hex head screws (item 116) se-
curing front handle (item 93) to bearing
housing (item 95) and hanger bracket (item
96).
8.2.5 Remove front handle (item 93).
8.2.6 Remove (2) hex nuts (item 114), (2) split
lock washers (item 115) and hanger bracket
(item 96).
8.2.7 Remove (4) pan head tapping screws (item
94) securing bearing housing (item 95), fan
housing (item 98) and motor housing cover
(item 103) to motor housing (item 113).
8.2.8 Remove fan housing (item 98).
8.2.9 Remove pan head tapping screws (item
108), brush covers (item 107), brush cover
gaskets (item 109), motor brushes (item
110) and brush holders (item 111).
8.2.10 Remove planetary pinion gear (item 99),
ball bearings (items 100 and 102) and arma-
ture (item 101).
8.2.11 Remove ball bearings (items 100 and 102)
from armature shaft (item 101).
Use proper
tool to remove bearings.
8.2.12 Remove (2) slot head screws (item 104) se-
curing stator (item 105 or 127) to motor
housing (item 113).
8.2.13 Remove stator (item 105 or 127).
8.2.14 Inspect all parts for wear and replace if nec-
essary.
9 MOTOR ASSEMBLY:
9.1 Reverse steps and procedures outline in section
8.1 or 8.2.
See special notes below.
9.1.1 To facilitate installation of motor brushes
(items 110), push brushes into brush holders
until leaf spring slides off top of brush.
Holder and brush assembly can now be
installed without brush pushing out of hold-
er. After inserting brush holder into motor
housing, push brush down until leaf spring
seats on top of brush.
9.1.2 Use
Loctite 242
when installing planetary
pinion gear (item 99 or 129) into armature
(item 101 or 124).
