29. Functional description
2-cycle, 4-cycle, spot
By tipping on the control key, the box change between 2-cycle, 4-cycle, 2-cycle-spot mode.
The Led above shows, which function is activated.
Material selection (material, gas, wire diameter) (MC 4)
With a short tip on the control key ‘material’, the actual material appears in the 3 displays. In the left
display is the material (e.g. steel), in the middle display the gas (e.g. Co2) and in the right display the
wire diameter (e.g.1.0mm). By rotating the left control knob, it is possible to change the material. The
last material shown in the displays will be accepted.
Automatic / manual mode (MC 4)
Pressing the control key ‘Auto/Hand’ longer then 1 second, the machine change between automatic or
manual mode. In automatic mode, all welding parameters are preselected by the box for a good
welding result.
In manual mode, the welder must adjust the wire speed with the left control knob and with the step
switches in the conMIG machine.
Power selection / step preview / material thickness (MC 4)
In this type of machines, the welding power can only be changed by the voltage-step switch.
In automatic mode the wire speed and choke will always be modified for a perfect welding result.
To find the optimal welding step, there are 2 options:
1) Use the material thickness. Tap the knob
►
(MC 4) until the LED thickness (MC 4) flashes. Now, the
required material thickness can be set by pressing the keys
▲
▼
on MC 4 until the value is shown in
the right display. At the same time the required welding step appears in the middle display.
Example: Level 1-10 for 2.0mm.
2) Use the welding voltage or welding current. Tap the control knob
►
(MC 4) until the welding voltage
and the welding current appears in the middle and right display. Now the required value
can be set by pressing the keys
▲
▼
on MC 4 until the value is shown in the displays. Now again as
described in point 1 tap on the control knob
►
(MC 4) to set up the LED thickness (MC 4) flashes.
The welding step and the material thickness are displayed.
This process can be repeated as often.
This step preview indicator is a good starting point, but for the upcoming welding job too be change.
Function
►
MC 4-5
In stand-by mode (not during welding):
By tipping short on the control key
►
the following functions can be changed for each welding curve
(only in stand-by mode):
Operation Mode MIG:
- start - speed (StS):
10 to 100% of the welding speed
- wire burn back (bUb):
-60ms (long, pointed) to +90ms (short, ball wire end)
The values can be changed by tipping on the keys
▲
or
▼
.
If the value is not changed for more then 2 seconds, the value will be stored.
During welding:
Operation mode MIG:
During the welding operation, the choc function is accessed and can be modified by tapping the button
►
.
The left display shows Choc, in the middle display is the current value.
Now, with the left knob, the value can be changed.
By another tap on the
►
button, the wire speed correction is shown in the middle display and the LED % is
light. Now, with the left knob, the value can be changed between -50% and + 50%.
