7 Checking the Functionality
7.1 Checking neutralization
To measure the efficiency of the anti-static bar, a field strength meter can be used, which is
suitable for use in hazardous areas.
Connect the field strength meter with earth, keeping a minimum distance of 30 cm from the anti-
static bar.
Measure the static charge of the material before and after it has passed the anti-static bar.
The measured charge must have reduced after the product has been in contact with the anti-
static bar.
7.2 Checking functionalities via the LED’s & HV-OK output
The color of the status-LED’s on the anti-static bar and Ex Status Module confirm the status of
the anti-static bar.

7.3 Reasons for overload
Reasons for overloading the High voltage can be:
- Contamination of the anti-static bar.
- Direct contact between conductive material and the emitters.
- The anti-static bar is placed too close to conductive (machine) parts
Reasons for overloading the HV OK-signal can be:
- Short circuit of the HV OK-signal.
- Too heavy load connected to the HV OK-signal (max. 50 mA).
