SMM54 MOWER DECK
CAUTION:
・
When servicing the front mower, place it on level, hard ground.
・
Stop the engine and remove the starter key.
・
Apply the parking brake securely.
・
Shift the lift lever to the DOWN position (
d
) and lower the mower to the ground.
・
Shift the PTO lever to the STOP position (
N
).
・
Service the front mower after the engine has cooled down sufficiently.
・
With these items in mind, confirm the safety conditions for maintenance operation without failing
ahead of time.
1. INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT OF GEAR
CASE OIL
・
Inspection of oil level
IMPORTANT: Check the oil level after every 50 hours
of operation.
Remove the level plug located on the left
side wall of the gear case.
Check to see if a small amount of oil
overflows through the plug hole. If so,
the level is normal. If not, replenish with
gear oil SAE80 through the plug hole us-
ing an oil pitcher or the like.

Capacirty 0.4 liter (0.09 lmp. gal.)

(2) Level plug
IMPORTANT: Before replacing the level plug, be sure
to wrap the threads with sealing tape
without failing, or oil may leak through
the plug.
・ Replacement of oil
IMPORTANT: Replace oil after the initial 50 hours of
operation and then after every 200 hours
of operation.
a. Remove the mower blade which is attached to the
shaft of the gear case referring to the instructions
for the replacement of the mower blades.
b. Detach the drive shaft cover and both belt covers
(LH and RH) by loosening the tightening nuts.
c. Loosen the lock nut for the tension rod and remove
the tension spring.
