iChain is very easy to configure and manage. Only one edge port of the edge switch needs to be
defined. Other switches beside them just need to have iChain enabled.

An iChain topology must begin with edge ports. The ports with a smaller
switch MAC address will serve as the backup link and RM LED will light
up.
5.3
iBridge
5.3.1 Introduction
iBridge is a compatibility mode for network redundancy ring protocols of different vendors which
enhances network redundancy for any backbone network with different equipment, providing ease-of-
use and maximum fault-recovery times, flexibility, compatibility, and cost-effectiveness. iBridge feature
allows usage iES22GF device in ring of other vendors like Moxx, Advantexx, Hirshmaxx, Soltexx.
Three or more switches can be connected together to form a ring topology with network redundancy
capabilities by following the steps below. The iES22GF should be connected to same vendor on both
Ring Ports.
1.
Connect each switch to form a daisy chain using an Ethernet or fiber optic cable.
2.
Set one of the connected switches to be the master and make sure the port setting of each
connected switch on the management page corresponds to the physical ports connected. For
information about the port setting, please refer to
5.3.2 Configuration
section.
3.
Connect the last switch to the first switch to form a ring topology.
