When straight-line cleaning navigation is set:
• Your robot automatically conducts route planning when cleaning. If
your robot is paused during cleaning, it will reconfigure the route and
restart.
• Your robot may pause temporarily to recalculate its cleaning
path. This is normal. The frequency and duration of the pause is
determined by room complexity.
• If the cleaning area contains both bare floors and carpet, barriers
(e.g. a closed door) should be set between different floor types and
cleaning navigation patterns should be set accordingly. If both floor
types are to be cleaned in one cleaning cycle, reactive cleaning
navigation should be set.
Cleaning Navigation Selection
Your robot has two cleaning patterns to choose from to effectively clean
different floor types. The cleaning pattern can be switched by tapping
the CLEAN button twice or through the iRobot Home App.
Reactive Cleaning Navigation
should be set when cleaning
carpet. Your robot cleans in a
straight-lined, random pattern
and changes direction when it
encounters an obstacle.
Straight-Line Cleaning Navigation
is the robot’s default pattern and
should be set when cleaning bare
floors. The robot plans the most
efficient route, cleans in a back and
forth straight-line pattern, returns
to clean missed spots, then cleans
room edges before completing the
cleaning cycle.
If the mopping pad plate and
mopping pad are attached, your
robot will automatically use this
pattern.
